Series your character's from Yu Yu Hakusho
Background info on your character: In the Makai, there is a floating island in the sky which is the home for a certain species of snow apparitions called the Koorime, or Ice Maiden. It is said that when a Koorime is impregnated by a man, the child they bear is always a male, as opposed to when they have children on their own, in which the child is always female. The males born to Ice Maidens tend to have bloodthirsty and cruel personalities, and have been known to kill many of the Koorime when left to grow up and develop. So it was no surprise when Hina, one of the Ice Maidens, gave birth to a boy and a girl, the Koorime decided to toss the male child off the island and keep the girl (against Hina's will, of course ^^;). Before Hiei was tossed off, Rui, who was Hina's friend (and unfortunately doing the baby-tossing 8D;), smuggled the tear-gem necklace his mother cried for him into his blanket, and hoped he would survive so he could get the revenge he deserved.
Fortunately for Rui, Hiei did miraculously survive the drop from the island by landing in a river, and was found by a group of bandits, who raised him as their own. As Hiei got older, he started to kill other demons mainly for his own pleasure and amusement, which greatly disturbed his bandit-family and caused them to shun him when it became too much. He then set off on his own, with only his mother's necklace with him to provide him comfort. The necklace also served as bait for greedy demons, and it was during a battle with one of these demons that Hiei lost what was most precious to him, which was, of course, his necklace. Hiei became determined to find it, but he soon realized his eyes weren't good enough to search the entire Makai on his own. So he then went to the Demon Realm's leading surgeon, Shigure, in order to get a Jagan (or Evil Eye) implanted in his forehead. Shigure first brushed Hiei off due to the fact that he assumed Hiei was just a young punk who wasn't interesting enough, but after Hiei told Shigure his life story, he reconsidered. He warned Hiei that the operation would be excrutiating, and his power level (which was A-class at the time), would shrink tremendously. At that, Hiei shoved his sword into his own hand, looked up at Shigure and claimed "I think I can handle it".
The operation was a success, and Hiei, unfortunately, had only the power of a lower-D-class demon. Shigure felt that Hiei should at least learn some basic swordsman skills before he ran off into the harsh demon world yet again, so he offered to let him stay for a while and teach him, which Hiei did. Soon after, Hiei set off to find his necklace, using his newly implanted eye to guide him. It lead him to his former hometown of the floating island, where he then decided to find his mother as well. He learned (ironically from the same woman who threw him off, Rui) that after he was tossed off the island as a baby, Hina committed suicide and left her daughter, Yukina, to be raised by Hina's friend. However, his sister left the island a few years earlier, in order to find him and reunite with her long lost twin brother. Hiei made up his mind right then to find his sister and keep an eye on her using his Jagan. When he returned to Shigure and told him of his plan, Shigure decided to make his payment for Hiei's training to be to, in the event that Hiei finds his long-lost sister, never to tell her that they were related. Hiei agreed, saying that he was never going to in the first place.
After searching for his sister relentlessly in the Makai, Hiei ended up in the human realm and crossed paths with his future partner-in-crime, Kurama. He strayed from his sister-search for a while to become entangled in a Spirit Realm robbery, which ended up being foiled by Yusuke (the spirit detective~ >3), and landed him in probation. Under this probation, he was forced to work with Yusuke, and eventually Hiei recognized Yusuke as one of his allies. One of Yusuke's cases turned out to be a rescue mission to save Yukina (Hiei's twin sister 8D) from a greedy gem dealer named Tarukane. The Spirit Realm didn't want to tell Hiei about this, due to the fact that he would most certainly kill the dealer and Hiei would land in even more trouble. However, Hiei found out on his own, and was able to rescue Yukina before Yusuke was able to get to her. Yukina didn't recognize who Hiei was, and Hiei didn't bother to tell her of his identity because of the oath he swore to Shigure. Since then, Hiei has kept his watch over her, but has never extended his relationship with his sister beyond that.
Hiei is a fire youkai, so he has the ability to control both the flames of the human realm as well as the flames from the makai, which takes form in his signature attack, the Ensatsu Koku Ryu Ha (Black Dragon Wave), which is embodied by a black dragon tattoo on his arm. However, his black dragon attack has it's downfalls as well. Whenever he uses the Black Dragon Wave, his energy becomes extremely drained, and he falls into a deep sleep 8D; He also has amazing speed and tactic skills, which are greatly enhanced by his Jagan. He mainly keeps his Jagan under a special bandana, which helps it stay in a state of sleep until he needs to use it. He is also an experienced swordsman (thanks to his extensive training with Shigure), and his attacks are almost impossible to read unless you have extremely keen spirit skills 8DD;
Personality-wise...Hiei's a bastard XD He's arrogant and stubborn, and even a bit selfish at times. He refuses to be controlled by other people, and mainly looks out for himself, and follows his own code of honor. He can't stand weak or moronic people, and he rarely beats around the bush when it comes to telling a person how he feels. If he thinks you are stupid, he'll tell you straight-up, to the point, and won't go into details. He's very anti-social, and is not the type just to hang around with others because he feels like it ^^; He's pretty cold on the outside, but he's also very hot-headed (haha, fire demon, fiery temper...ahh, never mind), and if someone insults him, he won't hestitate to lay the smack-down on their ass for disrespecting him 8D; Ever since he's teamed up with Yusuke, however, he started to grow somewhat of a heart, and won't tolerate if someone he is allies with is put in danger. He's extremely loyal to those he deems worthy of his time (like Yusuke, Kurama, and sometimes even Kuwabara XDD;) and can be a very valueable ally~
As for how Hiei got to our wonderous island...to tie into Yukina-mun's story, he was also sent to the island after the gigantic wall fell during the Dark Tournament (since in the canon, he rescued her from being squished XD;) and he's been passed out in a bush for the past few weeks 8D; Hence the reason why he doesn't know that Yukina's here (yet) and vica-versa :3
